CASE STUDY
The principal research and development laboratory for the country was struggling to recruit and retain the right staff in order to high the highly technical demand of cutting edge research across ten different research dividions (Research Centers). This was resulting in under-performance, missed deadlines and lower than expected product quality set by government ministers. The laboratory was slowly losing it credibility.
Key deliverables in development:
- Current to future state assessment report
- Comprehensive training catalogues for each Research Center (10)
- Industry benchmarking reports for each Research Center (10)
- Behavioral and Technical Competency Framework
- Organizational Maturity Assessment
- CxO implementation guide to the governance approach
- Employee mapping to the new business model (across the 10 Research Center verticals)
- Staff Career Progression Framework
- New Job Descriptions
The Result
With a modest budget of US$600,000, six months and diversely-located team of eight staff, I led the initiative to define the transformation plan and first delvierables for the lab to significantly enhance talent management methods. The resultant effect of the above deliverables shaped the foundation for better hiring, long-term staff career growth (previously not visible) and a regime of training and feedback loops against new competencies.
